GSD TYPES
There are 5 types of german shepherds, they don't have much difference, but whatever...
West German Show Lines - By far the most common type of gsd (in germany). Bred to conform the SV standard, which requires the dog to gain health clearences for hips and elbows, they also gain a working title along with their show title. This breed's look is very specific, and commonly very uniform, they are usually presented as red and a black saddle.
American/Canadian Show Lines - It's been quite popular in North America since the 70's. This line dominates most of the kennel clubs. The strictly conform the standards of the clubs. They are bred for their side gait and conformation.
West German Working Lines - These dogs with working blood are said to be the closest to the original dogs (produced by 'Max von Stephanitz'). The owners of this type of gsd mainly focus on the dog's working structure, good temperament and especially to a correct working ability. They also serve for real working dogs, not only sports, and make amazing family pets and companions.
East German Working Lines - They started developing after WW2, they used the remaining war dogs to create this type of gsd. They were strictly owned by the goverment of East Germany, and rigid control was given to them. They are known for their correct working structure, large bones and large heads. They were also known as 'working sound dogs'. Older east german working lines were valued for their amazing genetics and temperament.
Czech Working Lines - Originated in Czechoslovakia on a foundation of other types of working dogs, used for patrol. They are dominated by dogs who have a foundation of patrol and military dogs. Some of the czech working lines have a phenomanal working drive and often are intense and agile.
